Let’s break it down.
- 🛏️ As you sleep, dead skin cells, oil and (dare we say) leftover makeup can rub off on your pillowcase. You don’t want to be putting your freshly treated skin on a dirty surface. Switching out your pillowcase is an easy way to protect your skin post facial.
- ☀️ Facials usually involve some type of deep exfoliation and the use of active ingredients like vitamin c, retinol, or acids like glycolic or lactic. These are all amazing for the skin, but they can temporarily make your skin a bit more sensitive to the sun because the promote cell turnover. Avoiding the sun after a facial will help to protect your skin and get the results you want.
- 🧴 Because facials usually involves a deep exfoliation, you want to avoid any exfoliating products for the next few days to avoid over exfoliation. This can lead to a damaged skin barrier, irritation, dryness and flaking. In general, you only want to exfoliate 2 - 3 times per week so it’s ok to skip that step for a few days after your facial.
- One facial is a treat, but a series of facials is a treatment! One is a great start, but it will take more than that to really see the long lasting results you want. Scheduling your next appointment before you forget is the easiest way to keep yourself on track to achieving your skin goals.
- 📱 Cleaning your phone screen is important for the same reason that changing your pillowcase is. Our phones go with us everywhere and get put down on all kinds of surfaces. They can hold all kinds of dirt and bacteria. Cleaning your phone screen before you take any phone calls will ensure that you’re not putting a dirty object against your freshly treated skin.
